Sharon earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts & English from Douglass College, Rutgers University, and her M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services from The College of New Jersey. Following a thirty year career in Arts Education with the Montclair Kimberley Academy Middle School where she served as fine & performing arts chair and dance/theatre teacher; the New Jersey Performing Arts Center as a program evaluator, project director and curriculum writer; and, in her hometown of Paterson, as an administrator and teacher for the nationally renowned Inner City Ensemble, a youth dance & theatre troupe. In 2007, at Montclair State University, Sharon completed requirements to earn her School Counselor certification and began working at Paterson’s Rosa L. Parks School of Fine & Performing Arts. With her Supervisor’s certification from Rutgers University, Sharon became a Guidance Supervisor in 2013 working for several high achieving Paterson schools including Rosa Parks and International High School. Retiring from public school in June 2020, Sharon is honored to join the ICHS family as a part-time School Counselor. Sharon credits her childhood religious community at St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church with inspiring her calling as an educator. She and her husband, Laurus, and family are long-time residents of Montclair.
